Iowa natives Jeff and Laurie Quint weren’t always wine and spirit innovators – but over the last ten years, they have grown a small wine business into Cedar Ridge Distillery, a diversified spirits brand that prides itself on its creativity. The Quints were renting out a room in a small specialty wine, beer and liquor store where they bottled their first wines. After a flood destroyed their production, they decided to build their own production facility, allowing them to be more nimble and branch out into spirits.

Their bourbon is made with 75% corn and is locally sourced from Laurie’s father’s corn farm in Iowa, making Cedar Ridge’s production process a truly multi-generational, farm-to-table experience. From what started as a winery, Cedar Ridge has transitioned into a craft distillery that also makes wine. Cedar Ridge encourages staff to embrace innovation. They have created amazing crossover products such as their Port Aged Bourbon and Double Oak Reserve.

Director of Hospitality Ashton Johnson applauds the employees of Cedar Ridge for their agility during Covid-19. They quickly pivoted to partner with Eco Lips, an organic cosmetic brand, to produce hand sanitizer. During the opening of their tasting room, they have had to find ways to adapt their process while continuing to offer guests the best experience possible.

If you get a chance to visit the Cedar Ridge distillery in Swisher, Iowa, Ashton highly recommends a classic Old Fashioned or their signature drink, the Bluebeard (malt rye whiskey, blueberries and cinnamon). If you can’t get out there any time soon, their products can be found at Roselle Park Wines.
